The Solomon Islands Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (SIEITI) has successfully completed a week-long awareness and consultation visit to Rennell and Bellona Province, reaffirming its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country's extractive sector.
The visit, conducted from 2–7 June 2026, brought together provincial authorities, mining landowners, community representatives, and mining companies to discuss the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Solomon Islands. Led by Mr. Vincent Salafa Obimae, Head of the Solomon Islands EITI National Secretariat, the delegation also included Ms. Margret Leoa, Chief Research Analyst from the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, and Mr. Patrick Tema, Director of Investigations at the Solomon Islands Independent Commission Against Corruption (SIICAC).

On the 11 June 2026, The Government of Solomon Islands, through the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MOFT), is pleased to announce the official submission of its application to rejoin the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), marking a significant milestone in the country's commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability and good governance in the extractive sector.
The application was formally endorsed and submitted to the EITI International Secretariat as part of Solomon Islands' renewed efforts to promote responsible management of the country's natural resources and ensure that the benefits derived from mining activities contribute to sustainable national development.

HONIARA, Solomon Islands: The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) on 12th May 2025 endorsed its commitment to re-engage in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) implementation.
The Ministry of Finance and Treasury, in a statement today, confirmed that the implementation of EITI is part of the GNUT major Policy Reform to improve and strengthen transparency and accountability in the extractive industry, especially the mining sector.
